Stephen Constantine, head coach of the Pakistan national football team, selected Mohib Ullah Afridi for the AFC Asian Cup 2027 qualifier against Myanmar. As the captain and central defender for the Karachi United men’s team, Mohib consistently leads by example and commands respect from his teammates both on and off the pitch.
Pakistan vs Myanmar
The coaching staff included Mohib in the 25-man squad that traveled to Myanmar for the qualifier. Following a rigorous 7-day training camp in Lahore, the squad departed for Yangon. They then prepared to face Myanmar at the Thuwunna Stadium.
Initially listed among the substitutes, Mohib was brought into action earlier than expected when Waqar Baloch sustained an injury in the 24th minute. Mohib stepped in and held his own in a high-pressure match, contributing for 66 minutes. His performance earned him a 5.3 rating on besoccer.com, the highest amongst the Pakistani substitutes in the match.
Pakistan produced a spirited display, especially in the second half. Despite creating several promising chances, the team found themselves trailing at halftime after Myanmar scored just before the break; a goal many believed was offside. Unfazed, the Shaheens came out stronger in the second half, controlling possession and pushing forward with intent. However, their efforts did not materialize into a goal, and Myanmar ultimately secured a narrow 1-0 victory.

Pakistan vs Tajikistan
Mohib was initially called up for Pakistan’s 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifier against Tajikistan. He earned a spot in the starting eleven and took to the field at Jinnah Stadium in Islamabad.
Despite Mohib’s presence in defense, Pakistan faced a formidable Tajikistan side that proved too strong on the day. Tajikistan ran out 6-1 winners, with Rahis Nabi scoring the lone goal for Pakistan. The match, though disappointing in outcome, gave Mohib valuable experience at the highest level of international football.
